ABOUT ME
Putting My Experience
to Work
I grew up in Irving and graduated from Nimitz High school in 1999. After high school, I went into the US Navy for 6 years. Upon returning home, I attended Northlake college from which I graduated in 2009 with an AAS in Computer Information Technology.
After my time in the Navy, I built a career in network and telecom engineering. I am currently employed as a Contact Center Engineer.
Issues
Permits
We are losing businesses willing to do work for residents in Irving due to the difficulty in obtaining work permits. We need to streamline the process for getting permits, and we also need to make the permitting and code department more customer friendly. We also should work on the information flow from the Code enforcement department to be more complete and accurate.
Technology
We need to make sure that our city has the technology needed to properly support us. Along with this, we also need to ensure that we have the proper tools and staff available to make sure our means for communicating to our citizens is properly staffed and informed to make sure the changes needed to these outlets are made in a timely manner and are accurate. Our city currently has a website with outdated information.
City Development
The city has been discussing plans for years to revitalize the heritage district with little success. We need to also gain more focus on roadways into the downtown area to increase visitation as well as have an updated area for the residents.
Trash collection
Trash collection is a hard and thankless job that is vital to running a successful city. The way we are currently handling trash collection is unsustainable long term. Irving currently has one of the highest sanitation fees in the Metroplex. We need to make the decision to move to automation for trash collection. The current bag collection is costly both financially and physically on the great workers we have.
City Infrastructure
The roads in many of the neighborhoods are worn out and in need to repair. Irving needs a plan in place to address the many street repairs needed already throughout the city. We should also look at investigating different road options and the benefits that might be had from road technologies such as solar roadways.
Communication
We need to hold the leaders in our city accountable for making sure we as residents are fully informed and given the most accurate information that there is to give them and in a timely manner. In addition, it is just as important that we make sure that different areas within our city's infrastructure are speaking to each other so that residents get the most up to date as well as accurate information available.
Animal Control
There are skunks, bobcats, and dogs around the city and animal control is not helping to remove animals that are dangerous to health and the wellbeing of Irving's citizens.
We need to work towards a solution that benefits both the city and its inhabitants.
